Dr. Williams joined Foundation Medicine in July 2019 following a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He graduated summa cum laude from Carleton College with a BA in Mathematics. He received his M.D. degree from the University of Virginia. He trained in Anatomical Pathology and Neuropathology at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Williams also subspecialized in Dermatopathology during a fellowship at University of California San Francisco, followed by postdoctoral research. He regularly presents his original cancer research at scientific conferences, most recently receiving the Excellence in Molecular Pathology Award from the Society for NeuroOncology (2023). He has co-authored 50 peer-reviewed articles, which have appeared in NEJM, Cancer Research, JAAD, and Neuro-Oncology, and his research has been featured on OncologyTube and in Reuters.
Dr. Williams’s research focuses on elucidating the molecular biology of genetic alterations that drive solid tumors, specifically schwannoma (see PMID: 37436963), melanomas, sarcomas, and HPV-related neoplasms. As of September 2022, he also holds the position of Assistant Professor at the University of Miami and is a member of the Sylvester Cancer Center.
