Since the early 1980s, Janet has been at the forefront of the Victims Movement, holding various direct service and leadership positions locally and nationally, promoting advancements in victim rights and services, system reform, the development of innovative programs and services for victims of abuse and violence, and was a member of the National Crisis Response Team at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11. She is currently an independent consultant and trainer throughout the U.S. and abroad on victim rights & victim advocacy, children’s advocacy centers, and vicarious trauma. Janet also serves as an accreditation site reviewer for the National Children’s Alliance (NCA) and as a consultant for the Department of Justice, Office for Victims of Crime’s (OVC) Training and Technical Assistance Center. Janet is adjunct faculty at Northeastern University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice. She holds a M.S. in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and a B.S. in Human Development & Family Studies from Cornell University.
